Giovani S. Aguiar is a psychiatric mental health nurse practitioner. He received a bachelor’s degree in nursing from Towson University in 2011, and a Master of Science in Nursing from Walden University in 2021. He also holds a Master of Science in Health Systems Management from the University of Baltimore. Giovani is board certified by the American Nurse Credentialing Center. Prior to becoming a nurse practitioner, Giovani worked as a registered nurse in Indianapolis at Indiana University Hospital, with medical/surgical clients, but he spent most of his registered nurse career working in substance abuse/addictions with clients in Baltimore City and surrounding areas.
Giovani has a passion for mental health, and his mission is to be an advocate for clients, their families and the community about changing the stigma surrounding mental health issues. His specialty is substance use disorders/addictions, depression, and anxiety. In his free time, Giovani enjoys spending time with his Frenchie, with family & friends, cooking, and traveling.
Michelle Ridgeway is a board-certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner. She received her associate degree in nursing in 2002. She worked in many diverse areas of nursing but did not feel fulfilled. She found her passion after accepting a position on a behavioral health unit. Her love for working with patients needing mental health care led her to further her education. After completing a Bachelor of Science in Nursing in 2013, she returned to school and earned a Master of Science in Nursing with a specialization in psychiatric care in 2018.
As a dedicated advocate for mental health, Michelle strongly believes in a holistic approach to care, focusing not only on the biological aspect of mental illness but also considering social, psychological, and environmental factors that may contribute to a patient’s well-being. Michelle is driven by a deep sense of compassion and empathy, providing a safe and supportive environment for her patients. Her warm and non-judgmental approach creates a therapeutic alliance that fosters trust and facilitates the healing process. Outside of her professional life, Michelle enjoys spending time with family, friends, gardening, and yoga.
Calvin, or “Chip” is the office manager/jack of all trades for the center. He is a veteran of the U.S. Army and a 25-year career in federal law enforcement. His interests are in his family, racing motorcycles, and working with his hands. Chip is an advocate of the ketamine therapy after seeing, first-hand, the positive results.
